- Uprooted: The Argentia Story
Eileen (Hunt) Houlihan was born in Argentia, Newfoundland on December 11, 1909; she grew up there and attended school in nearby Marquise. Upon completing her education, Eileen taught school in Argentia for fourteen years.
As a result of the establishment of the Argentia Naval Station, she resettled to Freshwater, Placentia Bay in 1942, where she taught school for one year. In 1944, she married Bill Houlihan, and Eileen and Bill remained in Freshwater for the rest of their lives. Eileen Houlihan died in January 1996; Bill predeceased her in October 1995.
