At the end of January, in 1941, American troops landed at St. John’s and Argentia, Newfoundland – and nothing was ever the same again.
Of course all was not sweetness and light, but as time passed allies became friends. Through marriage Americans became part of 25,000 Newfoundland and Labrador families, and more than a few American servicemen chose to settle in Newfoundland after their tour of duty.
