By Geraldine Rubia
GERRY RUBIA is best known in Newfoundland for her work in establishing The ‘Longside Club, an organization designed to assist physically disabled and developmentally delayed people to gain self-confidence. The ‘Longside Players, which grew out of this group, has performed plays both in schools and on the public stage to great acclaim.
Gerry has been widely published in short story collections and literary journals, but a book strictly devoted to poetry was some thirty years in the making. Critics have said that while the wait was too long, the material is well worth waiting for.
